The Best Realistic Night Routine for School Success

In order to start your morning off well, you need to end the previous night well. These tips will help you create a restful wind-down routine to get you prepared for bed.

Set an Alarm

Like I mentioned in my morning routine blog post— check it out if you haven’t already— you should set an alarm for what time you go to bed.

This is to keep yourself conscious of the time so you don’t look up from your screen to find 5 hours have passed and now it’s 2am and you still have to go to school the next day.

Prepare for the Next Day

Once that alarm goes off, signaling it’s time to get ready for bed, stop whatever it was you were doing and begin preparing for the next day.

Write down your to-do list, set out clothes so you don’t spend time in the morning debating what to wear, and pack your bag for the next morning so you can simply grab and go.

Mindfulness

You should also journal, pray, meditate, or something else during your night routine— this is especially great when you’re anxious or overwhelmed about the events that happened that day or might happen the next. You want to clear your thoughts so your mind isn’t racing and keeping you up while you’re trying to sleep.

You could also try doing something like reading, coloring, or doing puzzles if you’d like. but whatever you do, you need to get off your electronics. These screens emit blue light, which impacts your melatonin production, making it hard to fall asleep.

Movement

A light stretch is also great at relaxing you and helping you wind down, removing any muscle tension you gained during the day. This can also make you a bit more tired so falling asleep becomes easier.

Hygiene

And don’t forget your personal hygiene— brush your teeth, floss, remove any makeup and do your skincare, shower if you didn’t during the day, and change into your pajamas.

Conclusion

Make sure your morning alarm is set, turn off the light, and go to sleep!

I hope these tips create a peaceful evening that sets you up great for the following day.
