The Best Realistic Morning Routine for School Success
What are your mornings like when you have school? Do you wake up peacefully and achieve everything you want to do before you leave, or is a mad scramble to pull yourself together to avoid nearly missing your ride?
I bet you want to be the first student.
These tips will help you become them.
Waking Up
The first thing to keep in mind is waking up on time. And in order to do this, you need to go to bed on time.
Depending on your age, it’s expected that you sleep between 7 to 10 hours every night. Sleeping too little or too much can cause mental and/or physical health issues that start your day badly. Therefore, if you know you need to wake up at a certain time, subtract the amount of hours you need to sleep from that time to know when you should be sleeping. Then set an alarm 30 minutes to an hour before then to start winding down with your night routine.
For your wake up time, it’s best to wake up with enough time to accomplish everything you want to do with some time left over so you’re not stressing if something ends up taking longer than expected one day. Figure out what time you need to leave the house by in order to make it to school on time with time left over, then subtract the amount of time it takes to do everything you want to do, subtract a little extra time just in case, and then you should have the time you need to wake up at.
Drink Water
When you wake up in the morning, you should drink a glass of water. This rehydrates you, helps digestion, and can boost your energy levels.
If you don’t like drinking plain water for whatever reason, then you can try putting foods like lemon, cucumber, or berries into it for flavor.
Mindfulness
Morning mindfulness is also great. Meditation, prayer, journaling, and more are ways you can think about the day ahead and set intentions.
Reviewing The Day’s Plan
Reviewing the day’s plan goes along with this. If you have an event happening at some point in the day, you should be aware of it in the morning so it doesn’t surprise you later on.
This is also useful in making sure you bring everything you need with you— if your oral presentation is today, for example, make sure you’re bringing your notecards to school.
Movement
A morning stretch or workout are also part of a good way to start the day. Get your muscles moving and blood pumping to energize you and keep you in good health.
Hygiene
You should also make sure your hygiene is good. Brush your hair, wash your face, brush your teeth, take a shower, apply lotion or makeup, whatever it is that you need to do
Food
I know that some people don’t eat breakfast in the morning— having school so early in the morning can mean you’re not hungry enough for it yet.
However, i still do recommend eating something to provide energy. It doesn’t need to be something heavy, but even bringing a light snack like an apple with you to school is a good option.
And if you do enjoy having breakfast at home, with the extra time this morning routine gives you, you should be able to eat happily and comfortably digest your meal before you have to leave!
Now go on, and get to school!
